For the very first time, the Singapore Chinese Music Federation, together with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre will be organizing the inaugural Singapore Chinese Music Festival (SCMF) from 21 July to 8 September 2019.
The Singapore Chinese Music Federation is led by Dr. Tay Teow Kiat, NMP Mr. Terence Ho and Council Members who are considered to be one of few important key movers of the professional development in our local Chinese orchestra scene.
The theme of this year’s Festival is “Unity in Diversity – Building a Sustainable Singapore Chinese Music Ecosystem”. The Federation hopes that the Festival will forge unity among the numerous Chinese music groups in Singapore, foster cultural exchange, develop and encourage future music talents and engage interest groups in participation.
One key aspect of this Festival is the talent showcasing of concerts presented by student, amateur, community and professional Chinese orchestras and chamber ensembles. The plethora of specially selected works presented at the Festival will allow audiences to experience and be engaged in the vibrancy of our local Chinese orchestras.
